Kiwanis Club of Poquoson sponsors multiple clubs within Poquoson City Schools. Active membership involvement fosters mentorship, comraderie, and a spirit of community across the City.

K-KIDS at PES

K-Kids Club at Poquoson Elementary School is sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Poquoson.

Club members discover their passion to serve, desire to lead and their ability to engage and collaborate with others to better the school and community.

Our Motto: We Build

Vision: To develop competent, capable, caring leaders through the vehicle of service.

Mission: K-Kids is an international student-led organization providing members with opportunity to perform service, build character, and develop leadership.

Objects: To provide opportunities for working together in service to school and community. To develop leadership potential. To foster the development of strong moral character. To encourage loyalty to school, community, and nation.

Core Values: Character building - The ability to do the right thing, even when it might be the unpopular choice. Leadership - The ability to listen, communicate, serve, and guide others. Inclusiveness - Accepting and welcoming differences in other people. Caring - The act of being concerned about or interested in other people or situations.

BUILDERS CLUB at PMS

Builders Club at Poquoson Middle School is sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Poquoson and led by a Student Board.

What We Stand for: Our vision is to develop competent, capable, caring leaders through the vehicle of service. Members learn to work together and develop servant-leader skills as they serve their school and community.

Our Motto: Building Leaders

Projects: Our Builders Club assists the Kiwanis Club of Poquoson with a fundraiser at the Seafood Festival and the Pig Roast in the spring. Also, the Builders Club will help the Poquoson Middle School Library with its "All for Books" project.

Experience: Each Builders Club member to attend a free Kiwanis breakfast meeting in April. Permission notes will be sent home for a parent signature and the Kiwanis will transport members to school at 8:30am. This is an excused tardy.

Expenses: The Kiwanis Club of Poquoson takes care of all membership dues. Each member is to supply refreshments for one meeting. The refreshment committee will advise what to bring and when, with the total cost of about $5. Voluntary donations are always helpful: candy, ribbon, stickers, etc. which are used in making gifts for others.

Membership: According to the Builders Club by-laws, any student of Poquoson Middle School who is in good standing with the Principal may join the Club. Students will need to submit an application and have a Kiwanis photography release consent form signed by a parent or guardian. Members are expected to attend all meetings and participate in the scheduled activities. Arrangements must be made for all members to be picked up by 3:30pm. An activity bus is provided to take students home.

Our Meetings: After snack and attendance, officers will ring the bell and announce the beginning of the meeting. The first item on the agenda will be the pledge to the flag, followed by introductions, officers' reports, old business, new business and committee work.

KEY CLUB at PHS and THS

Key Club at Poquoson High School and Tabb High School is sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Poquoson and led by a Student Board. We provide our members with opportunities to serve, build character, and develop leadership.

Key Club members around the world are learning how to lead and stand for what’s right through service and volunteerism. In partnership with their local Kiwanis club, high school students are making a positive impact as they serve others in their schools and communities.

In the past, the Club has raised money at a cotton candy stand at the Seafood Fest, helped bring the blood drive to PHS, participated in the Christmas Parade and Polar Plunge, raised over $1300 to help eliminate neonatal tetanus in third world countries, donated jeans to teens in need, walked in Relay for Life and many other events.
